I’m not a fan of Alicia’s music. I have higher expectations for a Juilliard trained musician and she doesn’t live up. Her lyrics are very elementary and each album contains the same rhythm with her banging on the piano. Her last album gave me the impression she was trying to sing from the soul but it came out sounding like she stumped her toe as she was entering the studio and continued recording. Every song sounds like she’s in pain. I even listened to Whitney Houston’s “Million Dollar Baby” and half way into the song I could tell that Alicia Keys wrote the song. Where is the musicality? In my opinion she is a prime example of the media and radio creating a star because musically she is not. Although she is pretty to look at (most of the time; she can look butchy at times), that doesn’t make her Grammy worthy.
